  Steak was flavorless. Seemed as though everything we were served was opened out of a package or jar & tossed on a plate or bowl. Use to be the best place for a steak or prime rib. Not anymore!

  My wife and I visited Jean's Cottage Inn for the first time yesterday on a recommendation from my father-in-law. We drove up from the Tri-Cities (about 70 miles) just to eat dinner here, and I was not disappointed. The restaurant has a long history in Union Gap / Yakima, having opened in 1962. The ambiance is somewhere between classic diner and rustic retreat. If you are looking for fancy, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for an outstanding steak, great home fries, and friendly service, give Jean's a try. The place is very popular with the locals, and now I know why. I had the boneless rib-eye with hash browns. The portions were generous, and my steak was the most tender, most flavorful steak I've had in a long time, including steaks I've had recently at venues you might consider more up-scale. Actually, I'm not sure I've ever had a better steak. We will definitely be back. In particular I'm looking forward to trying out their breakfast menu.
